Re: I'm New Here

Welcome! The fs14ls is my second boat, first was a 12' driftboat. The glassing of the seams and bottom is the first real challenge you'll run into, everything up till that point is fun and low-stress. Not difficult, but intimidating due to the cost of the materials and the fact that it's a single, c...

Re: Found water under the cockpit deck

 I see what you are doing there! Why not put foam in the bottles and then foam around the bottles?! :D I thought about foam in the bottles too, but I think I'd prefer the noise over trying to maybe 50-100 bottles with expanding foam, I do not have the attention span for that! But i...

Maybe I'll fill the bottles with water, water is very good at absorbing sound. Actually, now that I think about that for a second, that's insane! I can just buy bottles that are already filled! Doh!

That's exactly what I was wondering about. Was thinking of maybe hitting them with 3M spray glue or something along those lines as I load them, I'll continue deliberating, appreciate the input.

Re: Found water under the cockpit deck

On the foam vs noodles debate, anyone ever use empty water bottles? That's my plan at the moment unless I become convinced it's a horrible idea.

Re: Bottom epoxy/graphite

I just finished the graphite this morning. Wasn't as close as I thought when I started this thread. I went back and forth in my mind over and over whether to go the expoy/graphite route or some other route. I had talked myself into cheap black paint(an unfortunate fact is that this boat just won't b...

Re: Sharkbait PG20

Sharkbait, question on the peel ply over the biaxial cloth: what was the bottom-line effect, will it save you from needing to sand/fair or was it mainly to remove excess epoxy form the weave? Also, how hard was it getting it applied and smooth over those large surfaces? I played with the stuff once ...
