Re: Salt Boatworks FRS15 Build

Finished stitching the hull tonight. Going to start racking and filets this weekend if the weather warms up a little. We’ve had freezing rain all day but it’s supposed to clear up. Starting to look like a boat! 71146E58-35A5-4F68-817F-1C5834830515.jpeg EC3E8D68-F5BC-477F-AEA2-92B4E83F1A8B.jpeg 97A9F...

Re: Salt Boatworks FRS15 Build

Thanks Browndog.

If this thread is in the wrong spot, it can be moved to the other power boats section where more build threads seem to be.

Re: OB 15

Thank you for the response. If you had epoxied and fiberglass tabbed the console onto the sole, would you still have a drain? What I’m getting at, is if I have the chase tubes stubbed up out of the sole, a foot or so, if I could adequately waterproof around the chase tubes so I don’t need a drain. T...

Re: OB 15

I have a question about your console. Is there any sort of drain in the “well” that is below the sole underneath the console? Where you have the chase tubes stubbed up from under the sole into the center console. I’m trying to figure out how most people mount center consoles and deal with possible w...

Re: Salt Boatworks FRS15 Build

I wish I was replicating any assembly method, to be honest I really don’t know what I’m doing and figuring it out as I go. That being said, the few guys that have done this design have used the transverse frame pieces and stringers to shape the hull, which is what I’m going to do as well. So after t...

Re: FS 17 Richmond Va

How far are you from Winston Salem, NC? There is a wood shop called The Hardwood Store in Gibsonville, NC near Winston Salem that stocks Okume and Meranti in mostly all available thickness. Prices are about as inexpensive as you will find. Might be worth the drive.

Re: Salt Boatworks FRS15 Build

Hi Jeff, you helped me with my epoxy order last week, thank you. The shop is heated and cooled. I started stitching the hull together until I needed a second set of hands that I’ll get this weekend. 7430A1FB-5C1D-4791-85C9-7CDAB1D6235F.jpeg CF2E993E-405D-4BE9-8455-892E372850D4.jpeg 724E5582-7D3B-4F3...

Re: OB19 first build Maryland

I can keep my shop out here around 63 F with my heater when it gets into the low 30’s. So far I’ve been using MarinEpoxy with fast hardener with good luck. That said, I’ve been keeping my epoxy and hardener inside my house. It’s pretty hard to use when it’s under 70 degrees.

Salt Boatworks FRS15 Build

Hi all, about two weeks ago I got going on Salt Boatworks’ 15 foot skiff, the FRS15. I have been pouring over this forum for a couple months as I plan the thing out in my head, so I figured I will start a build thread in order to show everyone what I’m doing and ask better questions. This is my firs...
