thanks for your responses. I'll try and get in touch with him. I am considering how to make up a test section of mast and see how it holds up to a load.

ck 17 masts, daggerboard, fiberglassing etc.

I just finished studying my ck 17 plans as well as the stich and glue 101on-line discussion. I'm still thinking of carbon fiber masts, but solid spruce sounds easier. Has anyone had any luck with 2 by 4 stock laminated to remove any knots. If glued up properly will these stand up to the stresses of ...

I began a NIS 23 two years ago. I had to leave that project due to a move that I did not anticipate. heartbreaking. :( The project was not far enough along to be moved with me. I decided to try something less involved. I also want a boat that I have a good chance of finishing over a winter of buildi...

Paul,

I,ve ordered the plans. Where did you get pintals with straps that wide? Did you modify off the shelf pintles? Where did you get your masts? I'm leaning towards Carbon fiber, what do you think?

I've built a strip built kayak, a skin on frame kayak, a small ply on oak frame sailboat. I also started a NIS 23, but unfortunantly will be unable to finish due to a move. The CK17 looks like an easy plywood boat project. I could use that right now. How do you like the handling of the boat. Joe Sch...

rigging time for r550

I am considering the r550 as my 4th project. It will live on a trailer. how long will it take to rig? The less time it takes to rig the more I'll sail it.

The other boat I'm considering is the ck17. it looks like it will rig in seconds.
