Thanks frazoo, just what I needed to hear!
After much agonizing,I just couldn't live with the bottom panel butt joint.I unstiched and redid.
I had hoped all along for this boat to accomodate easy standing fishing.
Let us know how she motors!
thanks Rob

Re: FL26 build in Friesland
Jaap,
I'm sure you are busy doing what you are doing, but please tell me this;I plan to visit my daugher this fall in Groningen,do you think your FL26 will be available to see?
The FL26 is my dream boat at this point.I would like to see the only one that exists!
thanks,
Rob

Re: FS17 Ready for splash and fishin!
Spectacular!
Everyone says that a 25 hp will be fine, and a 50hp is just too big.I'm thinking you may have found the sweet spot at 40hp! Can't wait to hear how she runs.

Re: frazoo's Honker "14"
I was thinking of two largish detachable fenders to ride at the waterline, simular effect but not as elegant as a sponson.A sponson would de both practicle and sophisticated. Another thing that gives me pause is that Honker has almost the same dimensions as Skilly Gig,and evertbody talks about how us...

Re: frazoo's Honker "14"
You would think I would learn. I always see just what I want to see...when it comes to boats! I envisioned the honker as a Gheenoe like small powered fishing boat. After looking at it in 3D I realize its exactly 1/2 guide boat, and 1/2 pirogue completely optimized for rowing.I think it would be uncomf...

Re: Nice Canoe questions
For my last build,I did have to go to a luan door skin on the deck of a kayak to get the serious camber that was required. As much as I like ultraply,I don't think it can bend like okoume. If Ultraply was available in 3/16 I might just wet my pants

Re: Nice Canoe questions
Its a fast growing tropical hard wood,so it is "softish".From my experience, its in between the weight of Okoume and Meranti.I don't know about checking, but I suspect it might not.Shine looked at this stuff a couple years back and had nothing bad to say. Folks,if you are building a low str...

Re: Nice Canoe questions
some time ago there was a discussion about a product called UltraplyXL.It is carried at Lowes and is $19 a 1/4 inch sheet. They make it with waterproof glue and I have never found a void.It even has the pretty grain of good marine stuff.Lots of guys have given it the "torture" test with goo...
