Re: 28 Ft Trawler

Am I crazy to start with the Trawler? Crazy, dumb, ... yes. Don't start with this boat. You'll need a sizable facility at least the length of boat + 10 feet, and at least twice the width of the boat (20 feet). More is always better. Hull + all equipment will likely be $40k to $75k depending on how ...

I have a 40 HP slightly heavy 4 stroke on mine. The boat has a slight rocker (1/4" of an inch???) which is probably limiting it's performance. I also have a bit too much weight to the rear, which doesn't help. But I get a max of 27 MPH out of it which has been plenty for 80% of the boating I do...

With his pictures gone and no replies or posts, it sure seems like he wanted to sever ties with bateau.com. Well, I got to see his pictures for a few wonderful months. Great boat.

Hope he makes it back from whatever voyage he's on.

After building the boat, it was't much work to built a "toilet" out of some pine boards. The sides are just held in place with two 1"x2"s by pinching the sides between two 1"x2"s. The top was just high enough to slide a 5 quart "ice cream" bucket underneath it...

Love to know about:

1) how stable is it? I have a 20 year old alumacraft (sp?) that's got a flat bottom and is very stable. just wondering how the kids would do in such a canoe.

2) how much does it weigh? I think my 17' alumacraft is a good 70-90 lbs??? not sure
