Craig, wondering have you pondered any non-skid step pads on the gunwales? Funny you should ask...One of the reasons it isn't finished is the pondering part is going STRONG. Need to schedule this to go wet on wet if possible as well... I am going to try and mix some non-skid with straight epoxy and...

I coated all my strip joints with epoxy, applied a liberal amount of epoxy mixed with wood flour over that, and then clamped them down tight. I also painted the bottom sides of all the strips with epoxy before they got glued together, so the bottom of the deck and gunwales should be water proofed. I...

I am a huge fan of putting some wood on these boats, and if you seal everything well with epoxy, and light woven glass where puncture issues might occur (like the top of your seats), just about any wood can be used.
