Re: Craigslist "deals"

http://www.smalloutboards.com/m99.htm#60elpt Its a Merc but looks like a decent deal with warranty. So, I've decided on this motor. Thanks Gary. It is a Mercury 60 hp ELPT 4st Bigfoot. I've done a lot of digging around on these guys, (AFA Marine, in St Pete) and people are satisfied with them. Thei...

Re: High Thrust Motors on Tunnel Hulls

The water from the tunnel drops off before contacting the motor so I would recommend as little setback as you can get. Thank you, Cali123. This is what I was looking for. I remember seeing a video on an XF20, that showed how the tunnel performed.Im not sure if it was Jaques tunnel, or not. How has ...

Re: High Thrust Motors on Tunnel Hulls

Am I correct in thinking that there are more prop options available for the larger gear box? 13"-14" range? I recall Jorge saying that there just wasn't enough avail for his F70. Also, thoughts anyone, on proper set back for this arrangement? I'm thinking to go with a 6", In order to ...

Re: Snookiehunter's gf18 w/ tunnel

Thanks for all of the comments guys.
Yes. The F70 is my first choice. I just havnt been able to find a used one that I can afford. Guess that says something for their reputation.
Looks like I might go with the Merc 60, Bigfoot. At least the black motor will look nice on a black and white hull.

High Thrust Motors on Tunnel Hulls

I am trying to find some discussion on this, with little luck. I'm building a GF18 w/ tunnel, (from XF20). I plan on using a 4-6" hyd jack plate. I am at the point where I really need to pull the trigger on a motor. I found a decent deal on a Merc 60 4st Bigfoot. I have little experience with (...

I would guess so. Looks really nice, and it would take up much less space than the traditional fighting chairs.

Re: XF 20 build

Hey, check out my build. Snookiehunter's GF18 w/ tunnel. It is a Gf18, with the tunnel from the xf20. I lowered the sheer, at the bow, to almost flat. There is 3" of rise from the center, to the bow transom. I also added a full gunwale. It appears to be an xf20, reduced 10%, and I didn't have t...

Re: Snookiehunter's gf18 w/ tunnel

Any help is good help. I enjoy getting all of you guy's opinions. Fire away. Smalloutboards.com was mentioned before, by Gary. I'm really considering the 60 hp Merc. I am, however a little apprehensive about paying that large sum, to a website that promises to send me a motor that they can't seem to...

Re: Snookiehunter's gf18 w/ tunnel

The f-70, has been my top choice. Can't seem to find a used one. I passed on a F60, that I still regret.

Re: Snookiehunter's gf18 w/ tunnel

Thanks for your input, Rodgerdog. I was hoping you, or CL would respond. I will likely copy his lead, on your configuration. Do you happen to recall your hulls static draft at rest? I think the plans show 5", but that is much lighter than our boats. I ask b/c I've been debating whether I want t...
