Re: Need Ocean Boat with Cabin for Wife.
D2 - I like that! Which one is east coast style? I have always wondered about the merits of those two approaches.... I like the top one - I think it makes the boat look larger. I have never cared much for the standard Novi cabin. I have no eye for design, but I can follow drawings! Regarding buying ...

Re: epoxy question
Just make sure the existing epoxy is clean. Then scuff it up so the new epoxy has something to bite into. It forms a mechanical bond. Its done all the time. Some epoxies form an amine blush which you have to get off...without knowing more it...follow the directions for the epoxy.

Re: Need Ocean Boat with Cabin for Wife.
I would recommend you try Maine Coast Lumber as well. Their shipping is inexpensive to MA, but I know they were out Meranti a while ago. Downes and Reader in Norwood is a good place for all kinds of rough hardwood lumber too...not cheap, but they have alot of stuff. I have always wanted to build the...

I am planning to try this too one of these days (probably months!) I was going to try and talk to (a) epoxy suppliers - and see if they had any info and (b) the graphite supplier - the $40 guys/lowerfriction.com or something. THere are multiple sizes too. I bought my black graphite from Joel - maybe...

Lazlo, Very interesting...I was wondering about some of those things. The glass or wood could have had contamination. I am sure the epoxy was good and your right - when the surrounding glass is wet out but one section isn't - more is a waste time. I did precoat the wood, but I only let it sit 1 minu...

 well, sorting those things out is kind of what I am after. When I did my FL14 I had white spots show as bubbles and bubbles come from nowhere apparently. I knew less about what I was doing then. On this, it was really an experiement. I pressed FIRMLY. I could have stretched the fabric. surface...

I'm making a little skim board for my son. I cut the shape from some luan and put 6oz cloth on the bottom. The cloth weighed about 5.5oz. I mixed up 4.5oz epoxy, spread a thin coat on the luan, put the cloth on, then wet it out with the rest of the epoxy. It was very easy since the surface was small...

I portaged many a canoe but I was 17 then! I have no idea how heavy they were though. I have been thinking about that. The canoe usually has a place to rest on your shoulders, not so easy in dingy. I am reserved in the dingy dolly for later in life  I am getting old and weak, but not ready to ...
