belt sanders?

My cheapo angle grinder is dead, but I just picked up a belt sander. It seems that I should be able to use a belt sander for some "grinder" type jobs, but nobody ever mentions using a belt sander. What gives?

Re: Matt's FL26 - building the Wren

Matt,

serious question...half homebuilt?

Lets say you want to take on a bigger build, lets say 25+ feet.Would it be possible/reasonable to complete the hull with all core material done and glassed, along with all items glassed inside the hull such as tanks and chase tubes, and then employ a small "custom" builder familier with this...

Re: Matt's FL26 - building the Wren

I've also thought a thruster might be a good idea on the FL26.That immersed forefoot must surely make it a bitch to maneuver at low speeds.

Re: Matt's FL26 - building the Wren

If we look up the term "rare bird" in the dictionary, we may very well find a picture of the FL26.I've always thought that a larger home build should be something that you can't just run out and buy.The FL26 is that in spades! I can't imagine a better day boat or short passage maker.I thou...

Using auto body shop guys to finish boat?

I may, for ever more, be stuck with builds under 20 ft, and that will be okay I guess :( , but I still dream about what could be.In a larger build, lets say over 25 ft, what if I built the hull and subbed out other tasks to sub contractors who were not boat builders?.I'm thinking specifically about ...

Re: Rockwell Sonic Crafter sale

Got mine today! Thanks Larry....Maybe the best "tool money" ever spent. I didn't have one of these gizmos, so this can only be a huge plus for my new build. :D

Re: FS17 outboard selection...again

bluefish,

I'm seeing $4970 for etec 30 remote, $5375 for tldi 40 (tiller), and $6175 for TLDI 50.Where did you get that sort of price advantage on the TLDI 50?
