Re: Wood for Battens

HI, I am building an AD14 and to save weight I am considering Paulownia wood for battens and dimensional pieces of wood because it is nearly as light as balsa wood and it is here in Europe available at BAUHAUS and much cheaper than oak for instance. Has anyone ideas to it ? I posted the question und...

Re: 1971 170 Aquasport Rebuild

Hi Rickk and Matt Gent, Your explanations about the vaccum technik is beautiful and excellently shown. I do understand everything except the word visqueen which is used by both of You and I think it is the bottom of the bagging material. Am I right ? ( I have only heard of beauty, drag and the Engli...

Re: AD 14 KIELGE

Thanks jacques and das boot, I will use such a pin when I get towards putting the keel into the finished trunk. ( "Big" problem is to choose a thin dowel or Georges ss pin. ) Right now I want to finish the trunk and leave the melting of lead on the keel because I wouldnt be able to test fi...

Re: 1971 170 Aquasport Rebuild

Hi, You did a great job and dokumented it very well. Because I want to do my hatches exactly like You do them, I have a few questions about it which only a silly Austrian like me can have. My problem ist that I am not very good with my hands ( nearly clumsy ) and before I do something on my boatbuil...

Re: AD 14 KIELGE

Hi, Here is a picture of the top of the centerboard, where I am planning to use the lifting system for small boats described in the How To's. I hope my AD14 is small enough that it will work. http://gallery.bateau2.com/albums/userpics/87433/normal_068_centerboard_lifting_hole.JPG and here one of the...

Re: 1971 170 Aquasport Rebuild

Hallo,
I am following your rebuild and I have great admiration how you perform with glass and epoxy. I can learn a lot from it.
I have one question, what is this vaccum system you got and what will you use it for and how does it work ?
Greetings from Karl (Austria )

Re: AD 14

Hallo Bondo, I have seen the beautiful picture of your centerboard and trunk case. Can You tell me what you all did before you will now put antifouling paint to it ? Fibreglas with plain resin and then resin mixed with white colouring paste or did You put on Quickfair, or is there on top of all that...

Re: Adelie centerboard pivot

Hallo Bondo, Thank you for answering my question about the delrin part. Even that it is not on the plan/required I like the idea and I will also make it like that. You even answered my not expressed question about to much space between centerboard and case. ( Another worry less ) One thing about the...
