Fs17 motor shaft length
Shine what shaft length did your tohatsu have. I've always assumed 20. I started taking measurements, a 20" shaft will put the top bolt throughs even with my stern casting deck... I don't have a motor well opening, the rear deck is flat/flush with the transom camber. Like shine's fs17. So I'm t...

Re: FS17LS: tohatsu or Yamaha?
Same way with transom right? I should order jack plate, install myself. Then all they do is attach motor to jackplate with no need for drilling?et them cut or drill anything without your permission. i woudl try to make it so that they basically hang the motor and connect cables.

Re: FS17LS: tohatsu or Yamaha?
Don't know if its kosher to post prices, but I won't post names: got quoted $7230 for the Tohatsu TLDI 50hp including installation and rigging, all controls and harnesses and ss prop. Doesn't really sound like a steal but sounds honest. Now, I've opted for side mounted console throttle/control becau...

Re: FS17LS: tohatsu or Yamaha?
Thanks for y'all's input. I know this is like deciding on a boat, there's just not a perfect one for every application. As far as e-tec, everyone I know with one has had issues, just makes me wary. Sounds like the lighter tohatsu is a good bet. Go with what you'll be doing most of, right? One catch ...

FS17LS: tohatsu or Yamaha?
FS17 low sheer: I originally intended to power my fs17 with a 2stroke tohatsu 40 or 50 to keep weight down. My permanent tank is only 10 gallons however, so I've started to consider the 4 stroke yamahas because they sip fuel. The 40-50 tohatsu weighs 205lbs. The Yamahas weigh from 214-249lbs. I know...

Re: AtTheBrink's FS-18
Just checked out your build, very very clean! I wish I would have built the fs18, very cool boat. Don't know if you're still considering a change in your rod storage, but I had similar issues following the curvature of the boat. I flared my tubes, but also bent them with a heat gun to follow the nat...

Re: Custom trailer question
Yea I'm a little worried about finding a place. I don't know whether I should ask permission upfront or ask forgiveness. If I can't find one that will allow boat building/modification, I'm SOL.

Re: Custom trailer question
Adjustable bunks sound like a pretty good plan. Also, does anyone see a problem with doing some boat building in a boat storage facility?? Besides obvious pains like bad lighting and one electrical outlet, is it illegal or anything? I don't have a lot of pieces to cut out anymore, just gunnels and c...

Re: Custom trailer question
Yea I'm considering both, leaning toward coastline but haven't heard back from them yet... The only problem is my hull is about 7.5 hours northeast of houston. That's a long drive with it on a cradle and flatbed.

Custom trailer question
I started building a low sheer fs17 two years ago, had to take an extended break, but now ready to pick up the build again. I've relocated to houston and want to move the boat here from north Louisiana. My plan is to have a custom aluminum trailer built. My question is will a few pics and the build ...
