Re: GT23

Going along with fallguy don't know how many neat coats you have on now but just go ahead and put 3-4 layers of graphite on now. That will protect the bottom from any landings, sand, small gravel, shells, even smooth concrete.

Re: Suzuki/Tohatsu High Thrust

jbo stick with the Suzuki the gear ratio of the high-thrust Yamaha is the same as the Suzuki at 2.08. No use spending the extra $$. Let me know if I can help you in any way size your motor. I agree with fallguy also.

Re: DE 27.5

Dennis when you get the weight, we can add the other weights to her, and I can run her through my calculators to see what speed various motors will give you. Any idea what top speed you are looking for at this time? You of course will be cruising at best fuel economy. :)

Re: GT23

To get a get a smooth coat with graphite first strain it through a fine kitchen strainer and add to only the epoxy part of the mix no hardener yet. Once thoroughly mixed add the hardener in and mix well in. You should have a glossy shining bottom. For max protection 3-4 coats are ideal. Stir slowly ...

Re: Titebond 3 under epoxy

While TB3 is an excellent woodworker's glue and is waterproof, it does not have the strength of epoxy. Since I do not know what you are going to use it for I would use epoxy, just for the strength of it. Especially attaching to the hull.

Re: 1988 Shoalwater 176 Rebuild

Jaysen a lot has been learned in the past 30+ years on tunnels and what should be led into them. Jacques explained it well on one of his tunnel designs. All the tunnels he designed in the last few years followed current practice and had the keel/skeg end short of the tunnel.

Re: 4 stroke info for a 2 stroke guy

Just my two cents' cables are not included because the length varies by the design of the boat. Some boats will need 12' others may need 18' long cables, depending on the distance from the console to the motor. As far as the wiring harness most motors come with the one needed for the motor and gauge...

Re: 1988 Shoalwater 176 Rebuild

It is looking good except for one thing. You have run the skeg all the way back to the tunnel. This is an absolute design fault. You need to cut the skeg off 18" in front of the tunnel, this will prevent the skeg from introducing disturbed water into the tunnel.

Re: Tunnel

Jacques enlarged the LS18 by 10" widthwise in order to allow for the tunnel. This makes for a smaller tunnel than is on the XF20. Jacques designed the tunnels for each of the boats that have one, do not try to use one of the tunnels from one of the designs on a different design. A wrong tunnel ...
