Re: GT23

I added the minimum 4oz glass on everything that didn't call for glass. All surfaces like the sole and decks I did 6oz for better wear resistance and little more strength. I figured I needed to do 3 or 4 neat coats of epoxy to seal, so went with a neat coat, let it get tacky, then the glass, wait fo...

Re: knottyBuoyz III The TW28 Project

Should have a video of how to get in and out of that bilge. :)

Funny how all the power tools no matter what color they start life as always wind up the same color as the wood floor/epoxy mix. My Ryobi stuff looks the same.

Re: knottyBuoyz III The TW28 Project

Did you make it hollow so you can run the wires through it?

Re: Pushing the temperature envelope

I had to do some epoxy work in the same conditions. All I had was the slow hardener I bought for summer work. I tried to avoid doing anything when the air would drop below 55 deg or so at night but I may have still done it anyway. It extended my working time for one thing, but the epoxy still cured ...

I did not enjoy holding the wheel under the vessels hoghest point.
You could also keep a thick pair of rubber gloves onboard. :D

Re: Heat Shield ideas

I am guessing you do not want to vent outside so buy a ductless, 12Volt RV hood vent. Easy to install and provides more lighting.

Re: Do you need a drain tube?

I used a garboard plug so no tube but threaded brass hole and used a hexagon plug that uses a Allen wrench. Limited access to bilge at the center of the transom.

Re: GV15 Console -- need ideas

Not knowing if you are going with a stationary tank or not, portable is the easiest to use without all the filler tube and vent restrictions. The bottom of the opening needs to be vented to the outside of the seat box and sealed on the back side that is also the front of the console. The fuel line g...

Re: Spray Rail Ideas?

Now that it is becoming winter here along the Texas gulf coast, (dipping into the 70s during the day already! brrrr) I need to start thinking of spray rails and a bigger wind screen.

Re: Heat Shield ideas

Hard to tell how far the stove sets under the cabinet but if you need a heat deflector, Jaysen's idea is the best bet. The idea is to not let the heat ever reach the surface of the cabinet. The air gap Jaysen is talking about, if deflector is angled correctly, will pull cool air into the gap per Ber...
