Re: Garage safety
White viniger eh? Wow, who would have thought. Another thing I plan to do with my unit heater is there is a spot on the back to vent the air feed to bring in from outside. Not to be confused with the power vent for cumbustion itself, this is for forced air and will provide fresh air to the garage an...

Garage safety
Hello fellow fun seekers. A serious question came up over dinner tonight. I hope to start my PH18 soon but it also will require my garage space heater is running. It is a typical gas fired space heater, forced air. I'll be using the Silvertip from Bateau, will the fumes given off be flammable? Am I ...

Re: Layup schedule - foam core hull - PH18
Thanks Bob. Given the scedules I have seen for hulls with no core that sounds about right. Older boats around 16' with no core are usually 2 layers 18 oz and a bunch of chop, newer are often 3 layers of 1708 with those super wide foam filled modular stringers, all cavities foam filled and everything...

Layup schedule - foam core hull - PH18
I was sure I saw somewhere that the lay up schedule for foam core instead of wood was included in the plans. I got my new plans from under the tree today and can't seem to find mention of the schedule anywhere, just the schedules and thicknesses for wood. Assuming Divinycell H80 or equivilant, what ...

Re: Mark's PH18 in Toronto
Thanks Shine! I know I am in for a lot of work. If I need to, I will take two winters to do it. The reason you see multiple hatches instead fo a few large ones is that between them will be the bulkheads and other vertical supports, all laminated to the underside of the deck. In the end, I'll have mo...

Re: Mark's PH18 in Toronto
Thanks Tom ! Draft deck plan below. The light grey is stuff under the deck, except the outline which is hte approx outline of the hull, the outer darker line representing the overhang. It's a little busy but a start.... http://gallery.bateau2.com/albums/userpics/22680/thumb_PH18_deck_plan_Dec_2009.JPG

Mark's PH18 in Toronto
Hello all. I was going to wait until Christmas when I am certain Santa is bringing plans from Bateau, but I have also been asking a lot of questions so what the heck. I still have not made a final decision on core material, as budget is the constraint. Specifically, I have all the Nidacore I need fo...

Re: SmokyMountain's PH18 Build in E. TN
I have seen my share of drift boats in my years fly fishing the Bow in southern Alberta (before moving out to Toronto) that is by far the nicest I have seen. Beautiful. I'll be watching your build as I hope to start my PH18 shortly after Christmas. Have you made a decision on skeg/strakes/reverse ch...
