Re: Taping corners
At the risk of wearing out my welcome, I'll try this one more time. I apologize for being completely inarticulate in my question, and I haven't figured out how to upload a picture here to illustrate  (clicking on IMG gets me the html but I can't paste an image there.) Thanks for your indulgence...

Re: Taping corners
Peter, Thanks very much for taking the time to answer and post photos. However, this doesn't appear to be the issue I was addressing. When three seams meet, say at the bottom corners of the transom, some overlapping should occur as you fold each piece of tape over the corner. My question is how to d...

Taping corners
Building the V-10, you will overlap tape at the bow knuckle and where the chines meet the transom. Overlapping all three pieces of tape would create a bulge that would require a lot of fairing. What is the best practice here? I assume each tape would be notched and then the tails crossed? Pictures w...

Re: Finishing plywood frame edges
Thanks, guys, great stuff. Your boat looks impressive, shine. I guess I'm being overly fussy here because I have little experience trying to get a finished edge on plywood, and am used to trying to do my best to hide all edges. I'll forget the angle idea. Forgive an amateur question, but when you sa...

Re: Finishing plywood frame edges
Thanks a lot, shine. I'm really enjoying reading the tricks of all you craftsmen. I think that will be my plan but I thought of another solution: I could rip strips of, say, mahogany, 3/8" x 1/4", and glue them to the edges. The plans call for a radius but I could make two miters instead t...

Finishing plywood frame edges
I'm planning on building a V10. I have some experience in cabinet building and always try to avoid an open end grain, so building with plywood presents problems. The one thing I can't see my way around is the inboard edges of the frames, which are very visible. Any suggestions on a way to either tri...

Re: V10 Beam
Great stuff.
Thanks...I think I've got a plan. I'll have to get into the build before I'll know how it works. That'll be this summer.

Re: V10 Beam
Last reply didn't get posted on the forum, so I hope this is not redundant: First, thanks to you both. A trailer is not an option in this case. No place to store it. gk108: I hope to attach some kind of rubber edging on the flange at the edge of the van opening to prevent destroying my paint job on ...

Re: V10 Beam
Our posts crossed; but anyway, it appears you would also shorten the butt blocks to make room on the inside. You call for a total thickness of 3/4" for the rubrail plus 1/4" for the hull which is an inch. Going back to the rubrail approach, if it was only 1/2" on the outside which wou...

Re: V10 Beam
Not familiar with the term "sheer clamp." I considered a mirror image of the rub rail on the inboard side of the gunwale but as this would be interrupted by the bulkheads, etc., it would seem not to provide the same rigidity. I also wonder if I could get away with a rub rail that was, say,...
