Did RW comment on the use of balloons? I only ask because of a few previous suggestions that they should not be used for structural work. The balloons aren't typically very strong.

As a general statement...

Don't get too hung up on the pencil point. I'd whack the end of and then create the desired shape with thickened epoxy. That will let you round it nicely.

For some reason I thought gel couldn't go over epoxy... or is it polyester can't go over epoxy? I'm to young to be this old.
