Re: FS 17 Floor repair?

Do you mean like a 1/8" or 3/16" routed slot down the middle of the seam? Then fill it with resin? Straight resin or a woodflour mix? That might be the thing to try. It wouldn't take very long to do and if it worked, great, if not I cut it open and patch it. Willie If there isn't any evid...

Re: FS17 vs OB17

I wish I'd known you were still interested in scaling - I recently got rid of the plywood templates that I made while building my 15.5' FS17. No one expressed interest for a year, so I ditched them when I went off for internship. That said, the only reason that I can see to scale down is if it's to...

Re: FS17 vs OB17

I like all 3 of the boats, and having a hard time choosing. I'm not so concerned with the build difficulty since it's my 4th build, but more concerned with the ride quality and occasional big water capabilities while maintaining shallow draft and safety. Reevaluating my priorities I think either a ...

Re: OB 15 Outside Lamination

I have completed the chines and keel including the biaxial tape and miracle of miracles is square and the lines look great. The lamination schedule calls for glassing the outside while the scantling says that this step is optional, unless I had built it out of 1/4" in which case it requires la...

Re: HK15 - Time to slay some Ducks

Looks like a great boat - I've thought seriously about building one and putting in oarlocks in addition to the motor. I think it would be perfect for drifting/rowing down rivers and jump-shooting woodies after the morning hunt.

Re: FS155 (FS17 scaled to 90%) Completed

Thanks, guys! Yeah, my daughter is the photogenic one in the family - I think it's her pretty red beard and tail :) The dogs pretty much took over the bow. I don't see how they stay on with the slick curved surface, but they do. I just got the wife's permission to upgrade the power next year and go ...

Re: Most economic boat for 3 anglers.

Which of the two (FS17 or OD16) is dryer or better suited to small workboat role? I want to avoid 40-50hp engines because they are that ones that thieves target where I am from plus are above my budget. Will check on the price of the 30hp. jacques, will the FS17 plane with 3 persons well with a 15 ...

Re: Gv11 vs Gf12

So I am leaning towards the gv11 would it be possible to lower the middle bench to put a platform from middle to front of boat? And would the gv be a good canidate for a front deck. Thanks Avoid true platforms on this design. The GV11 is a great boat, but you don't want to be high up on it with two...

Re: FS 17 Cavitation/Ventilation problem - need help

I'd also try the doel-fin or some other quality foil early on. I've had good luck with them, they seem to smooth over a number of problems with getting on plane and cavitation. They don't fix problems per se, but can make the boat much more pleasant. The only caveat is that if you're really intent o...
