Re: DE 27.5
But if you mount them on the deck you have a trip hazard. There's a scupper there, and the sole should be well above the waterline, but I'd be concerned about the potential for a combination of blocked scuppers, leakage and rain to sink the boat over a period of a few days left at a dock. I can not ...

Re: Will this core material work?
I don't know about that brandname but I used Polyurethane foam for glassing over to make coolers and the like. Or under seats and benches for flotation purposes. It won't hurt to buy a sheet to experiment with. Nothing on the hull though, as FG2k already said.

Then just paint it with some if resistant epoxy filled with silica and pigment. Will be easier to touch up as you need it I guess?

Carborundum is available commercially most places. You could try making some but it would probably be rougher than a glued strip. Or these guys will ship it to you. It’s a local company. Not the cheapest but all good stuff. https://www.boat.net.nz/policies/shipping-policy UHMWPE absolutely must be f...

I looked into keelguards; they all imply that any concentrated pressure will mess with the pressure adhesive. You could try this product, I've heard good things about it, and it can be replaced as needed without a full remove. Probably a heatgun is the only way to remove it anyway, sanding would be ...

Re: More V - C-series
Are your sea conditions very different? I am trying to understand why in one part of the world a 12 degree deadrise on the C series is deemed an offshore boat and where you are boat designers have deemed 21 degrees better? I'd suggest going into Jaccques post history and search posts under his acco...

Re: More V - C-series
There was one built in Hawaii. Builder had it out in 25 knots plus more than once. No banging or slapping. The boat was explicity designed to go at moderate (not fast!) speeds in formed seas. According to the builder the chop hits the hull forwards, where it is definitely not a flat hull. https://co...

Re: More V - C-series
MG20. Barraman made a good one.
But if you really want smooth passage into choppy headseas and don't need to go fast, I'd look at a Panga. Deadrise is overstated imo, the designer wrote a lot about it. Look for some of his posts on the topic.

Re: C19 First time boat build questions
In terms of strength it’s not really the plywood there. It’s the glass covering it tabbing to the hull and importantly the sole glued on top. That sole adds far more to stiffened than plywood vs regular wood stringers. Plywood is technically weaker than wood in the grain direction but I’d be worried...

Re: Pedro's PG20
Every builder of the PG20 struggled with the front panels. One builder cut the front panel into 3 slits lengthwise for about 1m of the bow. It worked well apparently and the designer approved. It does not weaken the boat, as you will have heavy glass over it on both sides.
