The 7.5 oz. was only a bit $ more than the 6 oz. You're right the thing is as stiff as a brick outhouse! If I had to do it over I'd use the lighter cloth because the fairly open weave of the 7.5 from Defender Ind. took quite a bit more resin to fill. My old 9 ft glass dinghy weighs about 110 or so.....

Steve, Thanks for the feedback from your build. I've done the transom out of 2 layers of 3/8 Meranti. It seems strong as a house; especially with the rear seat area broken into 3 compartments which added 2 short fore-aft frames. Went with 2 white oak runners and white oak skeg fully glassed in. Think builder was "jimmac" if I'm not mistaken. Boat has launched and there were good pictures of boat and the sheer mod. on this site a few months ago.
