Larry...just as a tip from someone who put gunwhales on and has used the boat quite a bit now: Make sure that where the individual gunwhale sections meet, you splice them together, like you did with the hull panels using biaxial tape. You can do this after they are installed, rather than installing ...

Hmm..would a C17 as a center console work..making the cuddy a fishing platform, i.e. taking the roof, etc. off? As to the Panga...I've played with the idea...although (and I admire Jacques' designs..big fan here :) ) I don't like the lines of the Bateau pangas. Now, let me ask you this: How did Cape...

OD16 fishing...and what boat next?

Well folks, it's been several years now, and I continue to enjoy my "Inshallah" OD16. What I've found out though, is I actually like going after grouper..I really haven't fallen much in love w/the flats fishing thing. So, as you can imagine...I've taken my lil' ol Inshallah our into 3' wav...

Chicagoross, I would say you are doing fine. I made the mistake the other way around: I made huge fillets...just to find out that the fillet pretty much tacks your plywood together and it is the FG tape that gives it the strength. My fillets were huge...the 2" radius that I interpreted the same...

Rae, I have the OD16. Truthfully though, the only reasons NOT to build the OD18 are that you don't have the space for those extra feet, nor do you want to spend the money on the larger engine for it. Other than that, materials, etc. are just slightly more for the OD18, over the OD16. You pretty much...

I used poor man's peel-ply, i.e. plastic sheeting. I agree, that you use more epoxy that way, but it leaves a smooth surface. You have to make sure you squeegee the excess epoxy out from under it..or into dry areas of the fiberglass. It's best used on flat surfaces, simply because that way you end u...

On the OD16 there is no need for spray rails..it's a dry ride, believe me. When you start hitting the waves w/the bow..that's when you'll get wet...other than that...I don't have them. No skeg  - Doesn't sound like a good idea to me, but it might be worth a try ...you can always put one on if y...

Now that would be a nifty boat. From your link though, it doesn't seem that the original Pinasses are planing boats. The hulls appear to be displacement hulls. ..I wonder how a Panga hull would handle that type of top weight. I very much like the idea though. Cool looking boat. Now that would be a g...

Congratulations! :P :P :P I know what you are talking about! Took me 2.5 years to finish it and another half year to finally get it wet! Good feeling though..enjoy! As to the lights...if you don't plan on being out at night regularly, I would just buy some of those portable/battery driven lights you...
