Re: FS12 Build a much improved vessel from my 1st build
Thanks guys. I had some extra plywood so I went ahead and traced the sides and cut some strips for the rub rail. Depending on how it looks at assembly time I may end up going with the lattice strips like Capt. UB. I also went ahead and drilled the stitching holes. I might have gotten carried away an...

Re: FS12 Build a much improved vessel from my 1st build
Cut a pattern for the rub rails while you have the sides flat on the floor , it will make life easier when it is time for install especially if you are not using plywood for the rails . Thanks Topwater. That is what my thought process was before I start stitching it together. I'm not as true with m...

Re: FS12 Build a much improved vessel from my 1st build
For the rub rails should I copy the curve from the sides or rip straight sections with my table saw? I was thinking the table saw will give me a nice consistent edge but will the plywood flex enough to make the arc? Thanks, Chris.

Re: FS12 Build a much improved vessel from my 1st build
We got all the panels glued together. Using the roller and working quickly I was able to get them all primed with epoxy in one batch. The wood flour epoxy went a little slower but we still managed with a single batch. I'm going to let them dry overnight before attempting to move them. Next step will...

Re: FS12 Build a much improved vessel from my 1st build
I have all the plywood cut out. I think it looks pretty good but I guess I won't know for sure until we start to assemble it. What is the best way to lay out the holes for the stitching?

Re: FS12 Build a much improved vessel from my 1st build
I picked the wood up last week. We finished getting all the measurements drawn onto the plywood last night. My hope is to get everything thing cut out over the next few days. I ordered my epoxy and glass which should be delivered today. We are all in now, wish me luck!

FS12 Build a much improved vessel from my 1st build
I hope this is the right forum for this post. I've enjoyed reading so many other posts on here it has inspired me to build a boat with my son. We live by a creek that feeds into the intracoastal in Jacksonville and enjoy everything it has to offer. We do a lot of fishing, kayaking and boating. I rec...

Re: Plywood for an FS12 build
I am getting ready to order my plywood for my FS12 build and had a few questions. I tried calling this morning but the number does not connect. 1. Can I use the BS6566 Meranti or do I need to use the Meranti BS1088. 2. If I am going to add a sole to the boat should I use 6mm or 9mm? Thanks. They (I...

Re: Plywood for an FS12 build
Thanks for reaching out. I spoke to Reid this afternoon and figured out what plywood I should use. Now I just need to double check my quantities and I'll get my order placed Monday.
