PH 18 transom and hull questions

I have jumped into my PH18 build. My resin/glass kit is on the way, and I have cut my stringers and bulkheads. Some questions about the transom: The plans call for a 1/2" ply transom with a 12x1" clamping board. I would like to construct the transom by laminating 3 pieces of 1/2" ply,...

Re: PH18 Build in North Dallas

I met Casey, his dad and son today as he was getting his trailer fitted. Let me tell you, the hull is flawless and looks as good as you might expect from the pictures. Beautiful, precise craftsmanship. It was also nice to meet three fine gentlemen! I now have Casey's boat stand and will either use i...

Re: Question for upper TX coast Phantom owners

Thanks, CL. Needless to say, much of what I've learned on the forum has been at your hand. I have struggled between buying vs building, but the support I've seen on the forum among the builders makes building seem like an even more fun project.

Question for upper TX coast Phantom owners

I purchased PH18 plans in 3/2012. Things are falling into place for me to begin a build. I have spent a lot of time on the Bateau forum and feel like I've got plenty of knowledge to get going. I built the PH18" model to play around with some epoxy and fiberglass and to get a sense of the boats ...

Re: TEXAS COAST BUILDERS MEET JULY 29, 30, 31ST

I agree with Fishwater's advice about being careful in Mule Slough. I fished there in a cruddy boat I owned, some jon boats and, yes, a Portabote that I still own (in Montana now). I would motor till I got shallow, then anchor and wade. Seems like you can walk for miles. I don't know it what it's li...

Re: TEXAS COAST BUILDERS MEET JULY 29, 30, 31ST

To TX boat builders meet meeters, thought I'd offer some info. I bought PH 18 plans last March but haven't pulled the trigger getting started as yet. I cut my teeth wadefishing in Port O'Connor 15 years ago, when all I had was boat enough to cross the Intracoastal. There is an area called Mule Sloug...
