Re: Jaysen's Helms 24

Nice work getting some miles under the hull! I wonder if those wind variances are in some part due to the East wind being jetted through the river and some chimney effect. In lake Ontario, near our harbor, any wind except south appears like a north wind. Is there any opportunity for you to anchor th...

Re: SK14 Build in NC

One more question on the fairing… hopefully you can see in my pictures, but I have some shallow low spots after sanding, especially in the corners. Everything seems smooth to the touch. In y’all’s experience, do you think the primer is sufficient to fill these spots? Or should I do another round of...

Re: JonnyMac's FS13

Racing a falling thermostat or waiting out a rising thermostat are a big part of my builds as well, so I feel your pain. I like Fuzz's idea about warming the foam, I use a "New England Patriots" crock pot to warm my epoxy and it makes things much easier, no experience with foam though. Bes...

Re: FS18 on Cape Cod!

Where's he going fishing? I suspect it will be wherever the fish are. This is a guy who does laps around Martha's Vineyard in an SK14, I expect hell be taking the FS18 to the Grand Bsnks if he thinks the bite is on. If you havent been to the cape lately, theres about an endless amount of bays and ma...

Re: Cameron's FS14LS+5%

I hit another major milestone this week! Aft deck is in! Way to crush it Cameron, work looks great. I'll go ahead and assume that you ran in the kitchen with a sledge hammer, smashed apart the counters, at 1:15 AM, screaming "I need more weight!!!!". Build at all costs! How's the critical...

Re: Jaysen's Helms 24

Has to feel good! It really does. Today I'm getting straps on the tank and REMOVING THE TOOLS! This will be the first time she will be back to "use it mode" since May. I may have taken a nap on her, but after today all I need to do to go on a cruise is load up portable fixtures and provis...

Re: SK14 flooding

Splashed the newly finished SK14 last week, but had a problem. When I jumped into the boat, the back 1/3 of the boat filled with half an inch of water through the rear scupper hole. I’m not THAT big of a guy (250 pounds) and have a motor on the back that’s about 100 pounds. I used meranti plywood a...

Agreed! I'm like a kid on Christmas eve waiting for a few new "parts" come in!

Re: Jeffs FS14 LS

Seems Jaysen has it down pat. I think on the Atlantic side they use some crab patterns as well. Not sure how useful they are on the Gulf. Once I wrap the boat up getting back in to fly tying seems like the logical thing to do. I did it a little bit as a kid because my dad would paint and tie popper...
