Re: Thanksgiving
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. We sure did. I'm full of turkey for another year. Might eat some more dressing and pumpkin pie though. Our family keeps getting smaller every year The dogs outnumbered the people today, but at least I was still at the table

Re: Build thread request
The fish, crabs and oysters just don't care what she looks like. My goal is to protect the wood/epoxy and then enjoy the boat. That should be everybody's goal as a new builder. I've built 8 or 9 boats, and rebuilt more than that. There is a lot to be said for experience and practice in glassing and...

But at least you won't be sweating. Seems like I mess up the timing on all my builds and always find myself fairing in the summer

Re: ST21 "SKINNYDIP" Noosa Australia
Dang nice work 8) I'm finding that I need to apply thin layers of fairing mix, sand lightly by eye, then close my eyes and run my fore finger along flow lines of an imaginary water molecule to feel high spots, then sand them off. I do it the same way. Your fingertips are the most sensitive part of y...

Re: 1969 McKee Craft
Good advice from Fallguy. The transom is wood and probably rotten. If the transom is soft and the foam is wet, you've got a heck of a repair project for a little boat that isn't worth a lot to begin with. That hull is almost 50 years old :help: It was probably built to last 20. I hope you bought it ...

Re: Putting my FL14 up for sale
Excellent 8) You did a great job of building it, I'm sure the new owner will be happy. I have always disputed that old saw that the happiest days in the life of a boatowner are the day he buys it and the day he sells it. I've yet to be happy to see a boat go. I wish I could say that, I've had a few ...

Re: 1969 McKee Craft
McKee is still in business and building pretty good boats. The started in 1967, so you have one of the earliest models. This was one of their first adds...

Re: 1969 McKee Craft
Does it have a Hull ID number on the transom, top starboard corner? I owned a 14' and a 17 of about that same age, but I was about that same age too :D They were good solid boats, very similar to quality and construction as Boston Whaler, maybe a little better even But they have the same drawbacks w...

I usually wet the wood first too.
