Re: Larger HM19

Thanks Rick, that is just what I was going to write: DE23 or NV23. They will work perfectly well with a 50 HP but not get on plane. Don't focus on the cabin looks and interior layout: those are interchangeable and we can help by supplying the cabin drawings of those boats. No problem for the Porta P...

Re: XFTS19 Questions for Jacques

Thanks Rob, problem solved.
There was a scaling mistake on one drawing of the tunnel, all dimensions multiplied by two.
It was fixed in 2020 but we did not correct the PDF package.

To the OP: we will send you an updated copy.

Re: XFTS19 Questions for Jacques

I see a scaling problem there. It looks like the tunnel panels dimensions are scaled by two. The tunnel total length on my drawing is 47-1/8 but the PDF file shows twice that. I need some time to understand how that happened but I checked the hull dimensions and they are fine. Until know, I only fou...

Re: TX18/HS18 Power

LAST QUESTION I promise: If the HS18 is scaled 10% in every direction, it would incur an increase in displacement if the water line relationship to baseline is also scaled. However, the HS18 and TX18 are similar to catamarans in that they should have very high static stability. If a 10% scaling end...

Re: TX18/HS18 Power

Would the TX18 it try to stay flat when turning? Would the HS18? If not at what point between a hickman sled and a catamaran does this behavior change? The video I saw had no turning going on. I'm not a fan of this aspect of catamarans which is why I ask. Those boats do not bank in turns but they c...

Re: TX18/HS18 Power

Secondly, I note that elsewhere on the forum, a 10% scaling of the TX18 or the HS18 is fine (in fact one user built a 7% version I believe). However, the existing frames are already at 36" spread. Is it necessary to use wasted jig molds first then scribe in new stations to get back below the 3...

Re: TX18/HS18 Power

Hello, I have purchased the TX18 plans. I am most interested int he HS18 plans however. My question is this: on the HS18 (with a little negative deadrise at transom) wouldn't it be better to use two, small, outboards so as to avoid the aerated water coming out the middle? Two small outboards will w...

Re: Trawler 28 (tw28) joining the different pieces for the side and bottom hulls sections

Fiberglass splices for the TW28. The notes don't go in details because the process is very simple. As you see in the pictures, one layer biaxial tape each side. They only serve to keep the panel pieces together during the assembly. Later, they will be covered by many layers of glass. Those long pane...

Re: FS18 OFFSHORE

There is good advice in the replies above but let's summarize them by stating that you should not select a flats boat to go offshore, modified or not. I loved to see the pictures of Faro: I was there a few times with my sailboat. I anchored in that lagoon but my preferred spot was Portimao. There ca...

Re: FS18 OFFSHORE

Quick remark: the 450 kg weight listed for the PG20 should be named trailer weight, not hull weight. It includes everything with the boat on the trailer, engine too. The PG boats are light for their length. Beware of seaworthiness legends. I have been to many parts of the world where the locals use ...
