Thanks OQ and Fuzz. :D We've been cruising for three months now, it's time for major re-provisioning, and Cairns is the last major centre for such when crusing up Australia's east coast. So we've moved to Half Moon Bay Marina at Yorkeys Knob in Cairns. It's one of our favourites. :D 10028 10029

Re: ST21 'Skinnydip' build, and boating adventures, Noosa, Australia

Thanks cape man and Tom. :D We sailed under a one-reef main and at times a staysail NNW some 50 nautical miles from Mourilyan Harbour round Cape Grafton to Trinity Inlet, Cairns, Far North Queensland. At times pleasant running, at times a seat of the pants downhill sleigh-ride topping 10 knots. Then...

Re: ST21 'Skinnydip' build, and boating adventures, Noosa, Australia

It was a beautiful sunny day for sailing twenty plus nautical miles from Dunk Island northwards to Mourilyan Harbour - first image. With the wind blowing 15-20 knots from the south, we shortened sail by pulling one reef in the mainsail and booming it out so Great Sady could run hard before the wind ...

Re: ST21 'Skinnydip' build, and boating adventures, Noosa, Australia

This morning an interesting yacht ghost-sailed past us into Dunk Island anchorage. Ghost-sailed, in that there was only a zephyr of puff. She hailed from Ketchikan, Alaska, was named Searcher, and she looked a like a legendary Perry 41. Such exotica excites, so I rowed over to say g'day to a delight...

Re: Bulbous bows

My hunch is a T section with the cupped top of the T having a slightly larger footprint than the bulb below it, at a height around the upper red line in the pic you posted earlier. In other words, the top of the T section to carry forward as far as the bottom red line, but at the height of the upper...

Re: Bulbous bows

Will FG seek to correct the problem at source by installing spray rails on the bulbs, because an unacceptable percentage of spray to the windshield is coming directly from them?
Is FG currently sea-trialling experimental spray rails on the bulbs?
Stand by. Time will tell. :D
