Re: RickW Ph18
RickW, You should not be sanding into the biaxial fiberglass. If you sand down and cut into the fiberglass, you are compromising the integrity of the glass. The biaxial cloth has a cotton fiber that sits proud of the fiberglass. This cotton fiber is used as a guide for fairing. You need to fair up t...

Re: Peel ply vs plastic
Edd, Neither Plastic or Peel Ply is used to prevent blush. With certain epoxies/hardeners blush is a byproduct of the chemical reaction between the resin and hardener, the temperature/humidity, and cure rate. I only use plastic when I am laminating and I need to put another board with some weight do...

Re: Gf16 extra hull glass
Edd,
IMO, there really isn't a right/wrong way to do this. Probably easier to fair in the biax rather than the CSM. Either way you are adding weight to the hull. I guess you just need to decide at what point does the added weight "out weigh" the reward of abrasion resistance.

Re: Gf16 extra hull glass
Edd, Chopped Strand Mat will add some bulk to the hull and will give you an extra layer to guard against oysters, however, it is not as strong as biax. I think your best bet is to find a coating for the hull that is very hard and durable. Airboats use a product called Gator Glide. Maybe a product li...

Re: VG23 New Build
Mhd,
I had Crystal take a look at the plans and make that correction. Sorry there was an error and that you are now having to go back and fix that error! I appreciate you pointing that out so we could make the correction though.

Re: Which designs for water-skiing?
TKa, I agree with the other replies thus far. Unless you are pulling kids under 12 years of age, you need to have a boat that has enough HP to get the hull on plane and pull a skier out of the water. Too little HP will put tremendous strain on the motor and will not give you the performance you need...

Re: Thinking about building a bay boat
Browndog, Jeff and I took a look at your latest post. Unfortunately, we cannot give any advice on lamination schedules as it pertains to changes to accommodate HP increases. As I know you are already aware, there are several factors to consider when increasing HP for a specific hull design. - Weight...

Re: C17 open 'Fair Enough' in France
Not sure what you are referring to since I see that you have all the panels filleted and laminated. Please provide some pictures for reference if you can.

FS18 is pretty much done. Just need to put a motor on, rig the electrical components, and get a poling platform made.

Re: Draft on CS25
Jwhitakeriii, The CS25 is a self-bailing hull. Looking at the plans, the Base Line (BL) is set for the underside of the sole. This would also be the approximate location of the waterline. The measurement from the BL to the bottom of the transom is 15.25". That should give you a good estimate of...
