Cutting stringers: http://gallery.bateau2.com/albums/userpics/36496/IMG_0897.JPG Assembling stringers with screws. After marking, cutting, fitting; and installing dowel rods to keep everything aligned up, they will be dis-assembled and glued. The screws are temporary. Thank you to CL for the idea a...

Re: 1971 Silverline repair
Looking good TRC, looks like we are in about the same place, Thank you, Explorer. You'll have a lot of dried blood on your decks lo-o-ong before mine ever gets wet, though. I started this thread in Oct of 2010, and the boat's been cluttering up my shop since March, 2011   I’ve done the ...

Re: Console construction, openings, hatches, etc.
There will be room in front of the console to set up a small tent and camp. How big of a tent are you planning on using, and how many people sleeping in it? I'm only 5' 10", but prefer a MINIMUM of 7x7 for 2 people. This allows for some sag in the tent walls without touching them, and makes fo...

I don't think you've screwed things up. Boat repairs and rebuilds belong here, on this sub-forum If some guys are having problems, that means that BateauWebmaster needs to tighten up

Re: GV10 Christmas project
This is an interesting project, and it's looking good
It may be too late, but for what it's worth, both of my factory tinnies have 1.5" (38 mm) clamping boards. They are not full transoms because they only go 2/3 of the way to the bottom of the hull, but they're both braced to the bottom.

Re: D5 build continuation advice
Sorry about your friend. You have inherited a very nice project though, and he appears to have been doing a great job on it! It appears to have a single layer of tape, tabbing everything together. I don't know if that's good or if it needs 1 or 2 more strips on it. Someone else will have to answer t...

Make sure you salvage your stringers to use as patterns for new ones.

Re: Privateer Retriever Rebuild
I have some fuel line and wire that I will test pull to make sure it will work out before the sole goes down. Hoping some cable lube will do the trick if it is tight. If I can't get it to pull easily, I will redo using a series of 45s and 22s. Have you had trouble with 90's? I've never ran motor wi...

Re: Dust collection and sanding
If you're located where you can release the dust, an old A/C blower with 12" flex duct works wonders. Note how I was using a 7" grinder at about 5K RPM with no shirt. IIRC: the disc was about 36 grit. I can't load pics with this phone    so you'll have to scroll about 1/3 wa...
