In the news Wednesday night: A Morehead City homeowner was watching TV with his wife on Tuesday night, when he heard a big "bang". He went to investigate, and, sure 'nuff, a boat had crashed into his pier :x. Worse, it went THROUGH his pier- and his neighbors' pier- leaving about an 8-10' ...

What they are is; "in the way". They will have to be removed in order to make your repairs. Otherwise, I agree with gk108.
The one on the port side appears to have wood shavings on top of it??? I always thought that SeaPro used the "no wood, no rot" construction method
