Re: A Cracker Built GF18

Twice a year here, Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend is usually when they take flight here for about ten days or so around Central Florida. My smarty pants kid set me straight a few years back on the U of F experiment gone wrong.

[quote="Cracker Larry"]Not much to report this week. All prepped and ready for final painting, but the love bugs have moved in thick and nasty. It was 42 degrees the last 2 mornings so I'm hoping the cold will run them back to Florida http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg566/CrackerLarry/...

Re: 1976 Grady White Rebuild

Thanks for all the pictures. You will need to cut back the deck/cap in order to get good access to your transom. i would suggest making the cut about 3' forward of the transom. Joel thanks for the reply. i hate to be an ass pain on the first reply you make just pulled a 14 hour day so my brain isnt...

Re: VHF antenna repair

Back in the 70's I was casting for mackerel off the Newport Pier on Miami Beach with new 2 piece Ugly Stick (Shakespeare Co.) and the top half went flying. I mailed Shakespeare the fishing story and customer service mailed me the top section and a note "No Charge". I got a little older and...

Re: 1976 Grady White Rebuild

Guy, get yourself one of those 7" grinders from Northern or Harbor freight (cheap), some 36 grit sanding pads, good dust masks, safety glasses and a couple tyvex suits. Don't do it with a 4'' grinder like me. Oh yeah, a big fan to push it out and off of you, place yourself between the work and ...

Re: 1976 Grady White Rebuild

Welcome, Have you looked at the above "How To's" link on the tool bar? There are excellent rebuild link's there for exactly what you wish to do, transoms, sole and stringer repairs. Hours of fun  I would suggest removing all the carpet, it holds water and underneath it needs to dry. I...

Re: Anyone Fishing?

I'll be the optimist. 1 hurricane and 2 tropical storms should flush it out. She should be good to go by Christmas.
