West System Question
Wondering if West System high build primer is compatible with Marine epoxy-was going to order on line here, but had an emergency with a member of our furry family and I have been in Miami, as usual, and Linda is being her nurse. Thanks, Willie and Linda

kwik fair shelf life?
Doing a patch job over seam on boat floor. Taped this AM and going to use micro balloons and kwik fare next weekend. Quick fair has been opened and is over a year old. Safe to use or get some new? Seperated and needs to be really mixed to get to original (new) consistence. Thanks for input, Willie a...

Re: FS 17 Floor repair?
Got the first coat of fairing on. http://gallery.bateau2.com/albums/userpics/30868/normal_DSCN2549.JPG I remember with Quikfair you need to seal it with S-3 primer before painting. If I only use microballons can I prime and paint over that or do I need to use S-3 to seal it. Just trying to save a st...

Re: FS 17 Floor repair?
I started fixing the sole yesterday. Did a double saw kerf down to the butt block, Primed it good with some neat resin and then used a woodflour glue mix. I mixed the glue as stiff as I could and still it get through a syringe made for injecting turkeys (BIG).Didn't want it to stiff so it would flow...

Re: FS 17 Floor repair?
Hi Richard Read your post last night just before going out to dinner. Didn't have time to respond. It isn't there this morning. Wonder what happened . Anyway, I am going to try to fix the floor this afternoon. Like your idea about using a saw instead of a router. Might be easier to control. Su...

Re: FS 17 Floor repair?
Do you mean like a 1/8" or 3/16" routed slot down the middle of the seam?
Then fill it with resin? Straight resin or a woodflour mix?
That might be the thing to try. It wouldn't take very long to do and if it worked, great, if not I cut it open and patch it.

Re: FS 17 Floor repair?
Jacques Nothing feels soft or mushy. It started on a real super hot summer day. I think the air pressure popped the ply off the block. It did move vertical then but after a quick fix with some glue it stayed down. But it does keep cracking and releasing little bubbles of air. That's why I don't thin...
