Re: FS 17 Floor repair?

Yes, I used SYP glued to the stringers and side cleats. As you can see in the picture the boards were coated well with epoxy. I think the ply isn't bonded to the SYP for whatever reason and it lets the joint move resulting in a crack. http://gallery.bateau2.com/albums/userpics/30868/normal_DSCN1348....

FS 17 Floor repair?

Hey Guys. Been awhile since I've been on here. Hope everyone is well and enjoying the holidays. Job has kept me busy since building the kayak. Not much time for extra projects. Since we finished the boat we have had a problem with the floor. The seams in the plywood keep cracking open. :help: I am s...

Splashed the kayak on Sunday. :D Got it down to the canal in back of our house and slipped it half way in the water. I have never been in a kayak so I got in to try it out before going full bore into the water. We had discussed who was going first with Linda stating she had for years done class 5 ra...

ORKA 17 Seat and deck question

I have a couple of things I am wondering about on the yak. First thing is the backrest. The plan says to hold the dowel as high as you can in the hull. It also has a note that says 5 " deep. I took that to mean the backrest was 5" wide and I held the dowel high. Is that right. http://galle...

Re: Charlotte Harbor Oreca17 deck question

The measurement at the forward bulkhead is 20 in., at the aft bulkhead 22 in. which seems to be the problem area. When the deck sits on the hull and forward bulkhead the area behind the aft bulkhead bulgs upward. Used alot of stiches there. We have measured very carefully before cutting any panels a...

Charlotte Harbor Oreca17 deck question

Stitched the deck panels this Am and wondering why the overlay off the hull differs so much when flush to , in particular, the front bulkhead. The overlay ranges from 1/2 in to about 2 inches. Wondering if we should make temporary smaller bulkheads and/or temp cleats and how they could be removed fr...
