I can take a while to get your head around. Epoxy is made from 2 part: resin and hardner. Alone they are not useful. Mix them together in the right proportion and the resulting mix will harden to a plastic - epoxy. Just mixed, its a bit runny, like thick paint. But it hardens. You coat your ply with...

I dont think you can really paint over graphite. Probably doesnt matter which you do first. I taped off the bottom and did the graphite first.

White Graphite

There was another thread where "white graphite" was discussed. I am wondering if it is a good alternative to the regular black graphite. It would be nice to be able to tint it to get different colors. I know its hBN - its not really graphite I guess, but perhaps has similar abrasion-resist...

but...dont worry about recutting things. Your not really that far off. Start with the bottom panels - loosen the ties, put something between them so they can't overlap - like a common nail. Stitch, but leave it loose with gaps - you can tighten later. Then go the hull panels. Just tighten things a l...

thats right.....better yet, put something between the panels to force a small gap.. a nail with a head so it wont ball thru...a cable tie..doesn't matter. You can also use a 1" PVC pipe (or so) under the panels to and held by the stitch to help keep the panels lined up. There are a number of pe...

really, hope it just pops off over time. Vinegar wont do anything if its already cured I dont think. You might be able to coax (and I dont mean calbe) it off with a razor blade if its not inclined to stick real well.

I think I was doing something like 3-4 heaping teaspoons to 9 oz of epoxy. I dont know if the 20-30% target is by volume or by weight...I was just winging it. I also added a scoop or so of cabosil to keep it from running down the sides of the hull. The graphite doesn't thicken at all really.

Great thread. Beside building more boats, I have a new objective - being able to lay fiberglass like that! Gonna have to find a helper, my 8 yr old isnt going to be up to that...takes longer than 5 minutes.... Question Joel - There was another thread where "white graphite" was discu...

GV10 plan update

I think you need to add an update link for the GV10. I am finally looking at the plans I bought a while ago. Sheet 8 (US plans) have 2 dimension fixes needed: 1) the one listed here - the 11 1/8 dimension (note too that the vertical height overall Evan listed in this post has a typo in the dimension...
