Re: Mark's PH18 in Toronto
Thanks Joel. I did the seams and screww holes and went around with my straightedge and she is within a hair of perfect. I am going to go with bagging on plastic as the parts are all flat/non finished ones like sole and bulkheads. when I get to the deck there will be very little that shows due to all...

Re: Mark's PH18 in Toronto
For a mold with smooth MDF as a base.
My guess is seal, sand smooth any imperfections, seal again, of finish is good spray on a good layer of pva (partall) and good to go? Risks? Two layers pva? Roll it on or spray? It will be a one time throw away mold.

Re: Marine epoxy vs others
Thanks Shine. So if I have this right, Silvertip for the hull layups, inside and out, including transom, then all th flat surfaces, deck, etc. can be marine epoxy?
Also, if I plan on vacuum bagging as much as possible and say budget 30 gallons, how much of that would you say would be Silertip?
Mark

Marine epoxy vs others
I have searched through the posts and hate to ask a question that has come up in different forms, but I need a comfort/confidence level. Project: foam cored PH18 I have seen many posts supporting the marine epoxy, saying it is "just fine" but otrher comments that Silvertip is "prefera...

Re: Mark's PH18 in Toronto
One question: we have a solid frame that the 3/4" MDF is on, but for now I have only screwed down the perimiters. I am wondering if I should screw the middles or allow the sheet to float on the 2 X 4's - I have them on 12" centers for the frame, over double 2 X 6's for the strongback, and ...

Re: Mark's PH18 in Toronto
Well we finally got started. We built the "strong back" or at least the first 2/3 of it. No resin yet, my brother in law kicked in some good lumber for framing, even if they had a little concrete on them (he has a construction company) First, this structure will be a surface to do some fam...

Re: Reels, Rods and other tackle
Tom, that is HARSH I don't feel so bad now...i just had some little "crevices" burnt onto the inner creases of the insides of my fingers. The index and middle were almost to the bone but heh, due to the speed of the line stripping off they were also cauterized....still hurt like hell to be...

Re: Reels, Rods and other tackle
Braid wounds - I was trolling and some idiot crossed behind my boat and of cuorse the reel screamed away. I grabbed the rod as quick as I could so as not to loose it and the braid ripped/burned across most of my fingers. I have broken a leg skiing that hurt less then that.

Re: Reels, Rods and other tackle
What do you guys think of the Abu 10000 series? I have a couple on 8' St Croix fibreglass rods from when I used to troll for Musky. I have them for sale over by the Toronto airport at a family owned fishing store I shop at (buying/trading for a couple more Stella's there this year for Bass/Walleye) ...

Re: SmokyMountain's PH18 Build in E. TN
Could one fair the hull, then mark out where the skeg/strakes are going, sand/grind a localized area, epoxy the parts on, the just do a little touch up fairing as needed?
