Re: Lithium Retrofit

Well, I'm going to look up the rego. My system is similar, but smaller and I use the app for the cerbo vs a screen. My batteries are 2 63 pound gr27 agms and I have room for two more, but have only drawn them down once. A small ac unit would be nice, but that would kill the two. I've been so busy wi...

Re: GT23

QA is always a challenge.

Risk/reward analysis.

Risk of leaving dimples is fisheyes or pinholes in paint finish all the way to ingress to substrate.

Reward is mitigating risk.

When the reward is making it incrementally nicer; it is always harder.

Re: GT23

The bubbles may also be outgassing. When you put too much graphite in; the new epoxy layer is going into voids or the dimples in the finish and an air bubble comes up. This should diminish on follow on layers. A less viscous or runnier epoxy flows into those pockets faster and the air has more time ...

Re: GT23

The bottom imperfections are cheapest and easiest to fix with neat coats. The build is about 3-4 mils per layer. After 3-4 coats; the finish will be orange peeled, but the dimpling should be less. This layer should help with your error and give the weak over graphited layer a hard shell. Then you sa...

Re: GT23

I would make a medium hardener. Mix 50-50 fast and slow. Kick time in cold weather will be closer to 1-2 hours. The only issue with bottom imperfection is it is a grade A attachment point for sea critters. The fastest way to build the bottom is epoxy neat coats at 2 oz per yard plus some loss to rol...

Re: Suzuki/Tohatsu High Thrust

The most important time for power is backing off the anchorage; assuming you plan to beach. Again, buy the motor that offers the biggest prop.

Another consideration is charging house batteries. You want a decent alternator.

Re: Suzuki/Tohatsu High Thrust

Compare all the engines for prop capacity. You want a big prop for that boat.

Re: GT23

Another option is a few neatcoats, sand, and then a graphite coating done right.

Re: GT23

Epoxy has no UV protection. So, a trailered boat means the sun will chalk out the 'bottom' or hullsides as quick as the sun reflecting on it or hitting it can be... Once this happens; you have to sand to remove the white chalkiness..before anything new is applied If you go the following year for a w...

Re: DE 27.5

I tried to weigh my boat with weight sensors. It was a lot of work. Dry weight recorded was some number that was higher than I wanted and so was the crane weight. The problem is one of trust. If you want a good estimate; figure all the plywood bought less unused. Take all the epoxy weight and double...
