Re: „FS14, GV 10 &11 Questions” for Jacques

We only have a couple of dinghies that weigh less than 60 kg. None of them will plane with two persons.
Sorry.

Please do a search for "Crouch formula". It will show you a simple formula to calculate planing boats speeds.
You will see that your figures are extreme.

Re: GT23

The GT23 can be built either way, right side up or upside down on a jig. The jig is made from strongbacks and molds, molds can be named frames, it is always the same method, same dimensions. The other method, building right side up, does not guarantee perfect symmetry. It's fine for displacement spe...

Sorry for the delayed reply: I was sick with Covid and could not think straight. Anyway, it looks like the problem is solved.

Re: GT27 Sea Keeping ability

Sorry for the delayed reply: I had Covid and could not think straight for two weeks. The GT27 is a houseboat. She is not designed to go offshore. She should operate only in protected waters. An experienced skipper can take her out in good weather but he has to understand her limits. I know about the...

Re: What's Specifically in the Design Package?

Sorry for the delayed reply: I had Covid and was out of service for 2 weeks. It's over now. In my plans, I focus on the hull and structure but not details. All the information and dimensions are there to cut the plywood or foam and assemble the parts including the specifications for the whole struct...

Re: TX18 cabin?

JM had Covid: sorry for the delay.
I am feeling better now but it was unpleasant.

Anyway, I agree with TomW. It's a light boat and can not take a cabin but a bimini top would be fine.

Re: LB26

Jacques Not sure if you are lost at sea or up a mountain !!! I posted a few days ago regarding drilling a 120mm whole through frame G + F to fit the exhaust pipe. Is there anything I need to think about or do once drilled ??? You can drill holes as long as you leave a 3" offset from the edges....

Re: LM18 Tunnel Build - NC

70 HP is a lot. It will be OK for the transom if you keep it running low but at WOT, the boat may be difficult to control. As some have said, the extra weight will bring the transom down and increase draft.
The recommended HP is 25 to 40. With a 40, the boat will plane with 3 persons and gear.

Re: OC17 nesting layout

No other nesting drawing, sorry.
I always draw the nesting for a simple standard version but it should not be too difficult to adapt it to different frames or another size of plywood sheets.
