Re: TX18 centre of gravity

Thanks Orange Quest and Tom, thanks for your advice.

From a quick look at my scale drawings and the advise from you both it looks like the 40% forward is fairly close to the advise from Tom. I will follow Tom's advice and adjust accordingly. Thanks again!!

Re: TX18 centre of gravity

Thanks Fallguy. I have made a pivot point to cradle the hull, however, what I am trying to get some help with is where exactly the COG should be in relation to the length of the hull. From what I have managed to read a rule of thumb is approximately 1/3rd of the LWL measured from the transom. I do n...

TX18 centre of gravity

Happy New Year all! I have just taken my TX18+10% (all dimensions) off the strong back and have it on a trailer frame. As I go forward I would like some advise on where the centre of gravity should be. I was thinking around station 'C' which is also the point of widest beam. That being said, I have ...

Re: Nidaplast 8 laminating schedule for TX18+10% sole

Hi, apologies for the quiet week, and thanks for all the advice!! Work seems to be getting in the way of important things (like boat building) ;) From the plans my largest open span is 40 x 30 inches. I can run a support mid way, reducing the span to 20x30 inches, or 40x15 inches. As I would like to...

Re: Nidaplast 8 laminating schedule for TX18+10% sole

Thanks very much for the replies. I really appreciate the time you guys have taken to share your advise. I will post the distance between stringers this week. I only have access to 400g/m2 Biaxial (approx 12oz/yard2) and 400 and 200g/m2 woven and am using epoxy. I have been exploring a little with v...

Nidaplast 8 laminating schedule for TX18+10% sole

I am building a TX18+10% (in all dimensions). I have access to Nidaplast 8, 25mm thickness and would like to use it for the front deck and sole. I have attached the TDS. It comes with a scrim and no glass fibre skins. I would very much appreciate a laminating schedule in order to use it for the sole...

Re: Mycell 80 and Corelite 450 for TX18 build

Yes, you could use Corelite for every thing. I will try to find pictures of a simple peel test. I use the same method than Boeing: a sample with a tab of skim that extends from the core and is pushed up and won by an eccentric, a cam. There is an ASTM method, just do a google search. Will do, thank...

Re: TX18 Centre stringer fit and modification

Vundu-how will you deal with it? Hi Fallguy. The short answer is I am not sure yet. I have been inundated with work, so tomorrow is the day. I will take a few more pics tomorrow and post them. I have checked and double checked the bulkheads and cannot find any anomalies. This is not to say I haven'...

Re: TX18 Centre stringer fit and modification

The center stringer bottom side is straight where marked straight. It looks like you did that right. The MW bulkhead is a little low but keep in mind that you will fine tune all the framing along the hull skin side to fit to the fiberglassed inside. You will make it fit at that time: all frames and...
