Re: Pontoon Cat 22 Hp

It would suck to need a special permit every time you want to take your boat out.

Re: Snookiehunter's gf18 w/ tunnel

I like your shear line. That is exactly what I plan on doing if I end up making this boat, I still haven't decided between this and the FS17. Looks good so far, just keep plugging away at it, you'll be in the water before you know it.

Re: NC16 in Wyoming

Did you tape the seems or are you relying on the cloth over all to do the job? I only used 4 oz on mine, and it seems to add a degree of toughness that helps.

Looks good

Re: Pontoon Cat 22 Hp

I would contact the DMV about trailer width limits in Idaho. I can't imagine it being a problem at 10 feet, but I'd still check.

Re: General motor question

May be a stupid question, but can't you just lock the kicker in the straight ahead position and steer with the BIG motor's skeg? I do that all the time using my bow mounted electric. Drop it down, lock it straight ahead, and steer with the OB. It's not as responsive turning, but when I'm trolling, ...

Cracker Larry wrote:...and the twins are not propped to plane the boat on one engine and it's a long ride home on one.
But it is a ride.

I kind of figured that was the reasons behind it, but wanted to ask. I kind of like the look of twins, no real reason for them other then that.

Re: Garvey 13 transom drain

I think a bilge pump would be unwarranted in a boat this size and style. For one, most of the pumps will only pump after there is about an inch and a half to 2 inches of water, and I don't want that much in my boat. Put a drain plug sleeve in as low as possible, and make it easy to get to. Get the b...

General motor question

I know the trend currently is one OB for fresh water stuff, but are there advantages / disdvantages to having 2 obs? Are 2 50s better then a 90? I know someone on here showed that twins generally weigh a bit more, but do you gain any performance? Efficiency? I ask because I remember back in the 70s ...

Re: Pontoon Cat 22 Hp

For reference, I would pull my young ones around in the tube at about 18 - 20. Your not going to impress any teens with that speed, but the younger ones like it.

I did meet a guy with a tri-tube and a 250 or 300 on the back, he could do about 45 in it, but I can't imagine what the fuel bill was like.
