ST21 Keel cooling option
Hi Jacques, I've decided I need to spend the extra time and money for ST21 keel cooling due to the turbid water conditions in the Bay of Fundy. Please let me know how much you extra charge for changing the ST21 cooling sytem from raw water to keel cooled and how I go about getting the changed design...

Re: ST21 prop questions
Oh well, it's only money. If it comes down to a choice between a keel cooler that works and a raw water cooler that constantly plugs up...
Please let me know what your charge is for the keel cooling design modification.
Hmmm... I think might start a new thread dealing with keel cooling.

Re: ST21 prop questions
Thanks Jacques, Did you get a chance to check the blade info? I checked his website and an earlier exchange in this forum from 2011 that detailed his boat. I have two questions arising from that and your mention of his keel cooler: namely what's involved and how much does it cost to get the ST21 coo...

ST21 prop questions
Hi Jacques, Some of the specs for the recommended prop for the ST21 are given in the plans. Please let me know the ideal number of blades for this design as I've failed to find that particular spec. My estimate is four. Perhaps the number of blades doesn't matter in this kind of boat? The plans stat...

Bouyancy foam acoustic/r-values
Hi,
I did a quick search on the site and failed to find the info. If it's applicable, does the bouyancy foam you sell have an r-value for heat/cold insulation or a sound reduction value that the manufacturer might have provided? Or do you have a best guess as to what those values might be? Thanks.

Re: Mertens ST21 stern vs. Atkin Shoal Runner stern
Thanks Jacques, That's great. I'm afraid you'll find me ashore in extreme weather. For my intended use the ST21 stern can stay exactly as designed. Also I'd never mess with the tunnel. Although I'm guilty of being knowledgeable enough to be a danger to myself and others, I get a kick out of armchair...

Re: Mertens ST21 stern vs. Atkin Shoal Runner stern
Hi Jacques Operating the boat in heavy weather is something I'd always avoid. At no point do I want to be more than a hundred feet from shore. It's intended use is on a river which is shallow and narrow for the most part. However it flows into the Bay of Fundy where the tides can be powerful. The ou...

Mertens ST21 stern vs. Atkin Shoal Runner stern
"The form of the stern is as old as motorboats are old and was inherited from the design of early torpedo boats, especially those of the French Navy. It is called a Normand stern after its deviser, an admiral of the French navy. It has advantages, not the least of which is its ability to ward o...
