Re: 2019 Southeastern Boat Builders Meet

I'm also interested in coming up anytime after the first of the year. September and Oct has become almost impossible to make it, so haven't been to the last few. I'd like to attend, so will keep on watching to see if anything develops here. Should be able to borrow a trailer and tow the OB19 up. wade

Re: OB19 6 years later, longest trip yet

I just re-filled the fuel. So over those 150 nautical miles I used 28.1 gals for 5.3 nmpg or 6.1 statute MPG. Not too bad for being out in the ocean. I also have a 115hp on the back would get better economy with a smaller lighter engine, but then wouldn't go as fast running around inshore. Yes the f...

Re: OB19 6 years later, longest trip yet

Thanks to all. I have around 300 hours on her now (not enough). Even offshore I was able to run between 20 and 28 mph the entire way. I have added some lead in PVC and chain in the bow locker to compensate for the overly heavy engine. However, I do love the speed and efficiency! She will run 30 mph ...

Then winding my way into Chokoloskee. This channel is not for the faint of heart! shallows, oysters, twisting back and forth, and only a couple PVC stakes, if you are lucky... http://i639.photobucket.com/albums/uu118/wadestep/OB19/OB19%202/20190302_181830_zpsrtfzmbhx.jpg I was not nearly as confiden...

OB19 6 years later, longest trip yet

So it's hard to believe but I finished building 6 years ago. Wow. Since then I've been using her regularly and have caught a lot of fish. https://forums.bateau2.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=23944&hilit=ob19+in+sw+fl&start=360 Most every weekend I've been checking the weather forecast to try ...

Re: Moose 1 Honda 0

The simple answer (and probably the best) was that we were freshly out of college, were not yet part of the workforce, and wanted a road trip. So I picked the farthest location we could possibly drive to in N America, packed a tent, cooler, and clothes, and hit the road. It was an amazing trip - we ...

Re: 2018 Southeastern Boat Builders Meet

Hey all - I'd be down for a Keys trip if it was reasonable. We ran down there last summer but the weather was horrible for at least 5 of the 7 days, so the keys need not really satiated.... Count me about 50% depending on time and location. If we were far enough south I'd love to take a Tortugas tri...

Re: Moose 1 Honda 0

In 2003 or so we were young and dumb and were driving through the night from the north slope of AK to Jasper and hit a moose somewhere in the middle of the Alaskan Highway. Score was Explorer .5 and Moose 0. The explorer drove us home to florida but we did manage to kill the moose and crumple quite ...
