Re: Can I stand in my unfinished boat?

Here was my cradle - built upside down on the boat before the flip: http://gallery.bateau2.com/albums/userpics/19577/small_PICT2411.jpg absolutely no problem walking around after flipping it. http://gallery.bateau2.com/albums/userpics/19577/IMAG0046.jpg Walking around in the boat was necessary, incl...

Re: Location of bilge pump outlets

I had one in a production boat that was too low and offshore (larger waves drifting side-to) it let water run back into the boat. Had to use a 1-way valve (not the best thing to do) as there was not space for the loop. Just put it high enough that it is still above the heeled waterline in reasonably...

Re: Prop suggestions: OB19

Hey Steven. It does sound like you've only made minimal gains with the prop changes, which is surprising. but also remember that you've gained in durability/longevity as well. SS props can be run through mud, hard sand, grass, etc without damage (usually). In fact, I've yet to have to replace one. A...

Re: Epoxy Issue?

all excellent ideas here. I'm just here to second using a squeegee instead of a roller - I think it wastes less and does a better job of distribution. much less foaming also, although it's still possible to get foaming if you over work it.

Re: Prayers for Wifes health

Hey steven - I've been out of town for a while, and about to be gone longer, but I'll be thinking of you. One of my employees just is going through this, and the lumpectomy surgery was not too tough on her. Do a good job keeping the incision clean however, she got staph infection in it, and that has...

Re: Prop suggestions: OB19

Hey Steven - any performance numbers yet? One thing I'd recommend is at least being in the mid-range of the WOT range, if not the upper 1/2 of the range. This greatly relates to motor longevity, IMHO. Just remember, your impeller drives the cooling water flow, and the impeller is driven directly fro...

Re: GV-10

I put it on my seat tops and don't regret it. It takes a LOT less fairing to apply. Don't worry about tape seams. Note - I used different textures on the seat tops so they are not aggressive non-skid. In fact, I used either a long-nap roller or a smooth roller for the kiwi grip. Just experiment with...

Re: Prop suggestions: OB19

Hi Steven - here's some numbers from my boat, different engine, but should be helpful: 5 people, 75# dog, 30 gals fuel, 25 gals livewell: 15" pitch, 1.86 gear ratio, 5700 RPM, 40.8 mph, calculates to 6% slip. That's with a stainless Solas prop. 13x15" prop on a Yamaha 115. Based on that, i...

Re: GV-10 Lifting Points

I'm lifting a 9.9 hp 4-stroke mercury bigfoot. The specs on it are roughly 110lbs. It takes a while to get the length of the 3 lifting cables the right length, but it works pretty well. Of course, I just lift it from a dock piling.
