Hi Liam,

I have a C17 with the cabin and can do around 35mph with 60hp with only me on board - but I mostly cruise around 20-25.

Regards,

Tim.

Re: c-17/oc-17 center console questions

Since we're talking figures... Something I posted on the E-TEC Owners forum in January (I've since done a few more hours): So, I'm now at the end of my dealer supplied bottle of XD-50 when I bought my E-TEC 60. For those that are interested in a stat-freak's ramblings this is what we've done togethe...

Re: Converting v-hull to displacement?

Okay, lets forget about issues such as legalities, insurance etc. and think about practical design for a while (I'm having this same discussion on two different forums right now)... The concept of only bringing the bottom of the boat up to meet the new transom (original pic posted) in my mind create...

Re: Converting v-hull to displacement?

Hey Tim, I hate a thief :? I've seen quite a few boats lengthened as you describe. It used to be a fairly common thing around here for shrimpers to cut off the transom of a 40' boat and make it a 50' boat. At displacement speeds you shouldn't have any trouble at all doing that, not with your buildi...

Re: Converting v-hull to displacement?

sure, it wont be as good as a boat that was deigned that way, but it will certainly be more efficient that dragging a big hole through the water. You going to have a lot more buoyancy in the stern, so you should account for that Thanks Joel, That's exactly what I wanted to hear. As to buoyancy - I'...

Converting v-hull to displacement?

So, I hauled my other boat (see pic below) out the water yesterday after four years of cruising, and need to improve things somewhat. It's too noisy (I do birding safari cruises), it's too ineffecient - it runs a 1.9 litre Toyota diesel driving a Hamilton jet, max speed around 6 knots (I have towed ...

Jacques, I know - I have one - 1500km on the clock and counting, though not as much glass as this boat... :D

Re: C17 vs. ob17

I don't really need to go faster but I wonder what a different prop would do? I'm thinking that your prop is too small - what rev's do you get at WOT? 11" pitch sounds seriously 'short'. My story on props selection: My motor was supplied with a 12 3/4 x 17 and the specs on the motor suggest th...

Re: C17 vs. ob17

Hi guys, Thanks for the comments Bob, and glad my thread was of use to you. Your boat looks great! I'm curious about your motor - I run a 60 and get near 37mph WOT with a 17" three blade. I have since changed to 15" four blade as I'm using the boat to do bird-watching trips and sometimes h...
