Re: FS 19 build

Had a little set back. The side panel I glued up yesterday afternoon had to be redone on one of the joints. Which is easier said than done. Apparently I used a 2 X 4 that had a bow in it to lay across the joint and then put weight on top of the 2 X 4. The problem was that there wasn't adequate...

Re: FS 19 build

Glued up one of the side panels this afternoon. Not sure why there are stitching holes on the top of the panel. Would post a picture but that doesn't seem to be working right now.

Re: FS 19 build

Ended up not going fishing this afternoon so worked on the boat some more. Got the second bottom panel glued up. This boat build is taking over the garage. I've got stuff everywhere right now.

Re: FS 19 build

Got all of the molds cut out of the MDF sheets. Between last night and this morning. Man, are they heavy. Also got the third clamping board glued up with the other two. Using a couple of dowels to keep everything aligned. A great tip that I picked up here on the forum. I mixed up too much gel magic ...

Re: FS 19 build

Eric,

I got the current set of casters from Northern Tool. I also have some from Harbor Freight, but they are a slightly different size, so I chose not to mix them.

Regards,
Jordy

Re: FS 19 build

Glued up the first of the bottom panels this morning and also two of the clamping boards are being glued up. Will continue to cut pieces out of the sheets tonight. Need to get the molds cut out still.

Re: Use of the puzzle joint, FS 17

I've used puzzle joints and fiberglass splices on past boat projects and the puzzle joints are easier and make a stronger seam. One of the advantages of the CNC kits in my opinion is the puzzle joints for all of the long panels. You do have to sand all of the CNC cutter fuzz from around the finger e...

Re: FS 19 build

Got lots of pieces cut out of the sheets and will be gluing them up to full size over the next couple of days after I defuzz the edges. The multitool with the saw blade is perfect for cutting the tabs off of the parts.
