Re: Christer's planning-to-build-a boat-at-some-point thread

There's a new contender, Schionning Marine's Prowler VT650:

Fantastic looking boat, and suits my program perfectly. I guess the CT22 could be built to look similar to the VT650...

Re: Christer's planning-to-build-a boat-at-some-point thread

Right, so I've been trying to research Ken Hankinson's Wild/Bear Cats, and things don't bode well for building any of them. There are a number of issues with both plans, building and the finished products. As a member of the WoodenBoat forums so eloquently put it in this thread, http://forum.woodenb...

Re: Kevlar vs graphite epoxy

When building a boat knowing what to do and how to do it right can not be over stated. None of us know it all so we must find other sources of information. And it really helps if that information is correct and not just some ones guess. This thread is a perfect example of the beauty of this forum. ...

Re: Kevlar vs graphite epoxy

That was quick and concise. I'll go with graphite when the time comes, then.

Thanks! :)

Kevlar vs graphite epoxy

To protect the bottom of the boat against beaching, the occasional grounding, floating logs and other debris, etc, which is better of kevlar and graphite epoxy and why? Which requires the least amount of maintenance, and how hard is it to fix once the damage is done?

Re: Shorter version of the Jazz 30? 25 ft, perhaps?

I have to rent two slips where I want to go. The berth I'm mooring in is mine - I own it. Or, rather, I own the right to use it for the next 30 years. If I could get one of the berths next to mine, I could remove the outrigger separating them and have a 25ft wide slip. Unfortunately, the limits on ...

KOALAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

I got to hold one in Australia Zoo, and it really clinged on to me. I smelled of Eucalypt for hours afterwards :)

Re: CT 22 information

Okay, drawing from my "planning to build a boat at some point" thread, I have some concrete questions for Jacques: 1. Can the overall beam of the CT22 be widened from 8'3" to 9' 3"-6" without touching any other measurement? I.e. just add a foot of width to the central part o...

Re: Christer's planning-to-build-a boat-at-some-point thread

Or, if I could talk Jacques into redesigning the CT22 for me like the PartyCat I pictured earlier, that'd be sweet. :) No need to redesign anything. Your sketch is very close to my design. As long as you keep the main frames, you can do what you want with the seating. There are two obstacles: the h...

Re: Christer's planning-to-build-a boat-at-some-point thread

There is also the Bear Cat Cuddy at Glen-L, which offers a hideous cuddy with sleeping accommodations for two. The cuddy can most likely both be redesigned into something aesthetically pleasing as well as enlarged - the boat is a massive 27'10" x 10', so there should be plenty of room left ove...
