Engine, steering
Thanks Richard, good explanation.
Engines come with controls and a small instrument panel: all one has to to do is plug in the harness and connect two wires to the battery.
However, we began last month, to add a basic electrical diagram with each large boat plan.
I still recommend a good bo...

HM-18/19 construction completed
Good job, amazing building speed!
From the picture, she is still very light: a bare boat. Once you´ll get her loaded with a bigger engine, fuel, gear etc. she will float at the designed waterline and feel more like a big boat.
As you discovered, a 25 HP will not get her on plane: you need a 40...

The cockpit should be 9 mm. See Justin Pipkorn´s web site about that, he comments on the cockpit.

Stich and Glue
Before you start, I must second the method of welding the panels together with epoxy putty only. It will work in the case of the C21 because the plywood bends very easily, there is no stress on the seams.
For other boats, like the OB17, you will have to use the little fiberglas pieces as show in ...

VG 20 BOM List
I´ll review the questions one by one:

BOM, plywood:
============
The building notes state that there are two options for the materials, see bottom of second page. Option one uses thicker plywood (9 mm) for the sides, option two use thinner plywood (6 mm) sandwiched between layers of fib...

OB19?
The length will help but the OB19 will use a lot more plywood. The OB17 is very economical from that point of view: we were able to fit the width of the 2 side panels on one plywood sheet. That is not possible with the 19.
Besides that, it will still be less expensive than the C19.
