Re: Hopefully it's not just me....

FWIW, I've misremembered how I misread/misunderstood a dimension. Happened to two of us, that's why my GF18 is a GF 17' 8 1/2 incher. I pulled that one off with oversight by MR P, we still laugh about it. The boat doesn't seem to care.

Re: How to build a jon boat 16foot without mid seat?

Hello Prarie Dog, Larry, do you think I should plan some additional crossbeams between rear seat/ mid seat and between mid seat / front deck ? The height of the stringers at your GF12 is 3 inches? I'am right? Thanks for your time Bernd Bernd, The stringers are 5" tall, sorry didn't make that c...

Re: How to build a jon boat 16foot without mid seat?

Bernd, This is how we did it, we added two half inch thick stringers in the boat and cut the seat frames down to three inches. So far it's working fine, this is how the GF18 is done except the stringers in it are 3/4" thick, appx 19 mm. On the GF16 it would probably make sense to go with 19mm b...

Re: Working in the winter

I live about 1100 miles due south of you and I have a shop that I set up portable heaters in to build one boat. That will be the last one I try to glass in the winter. The problem I had was keeping the shop warm at night. Some of those laminations didn't really set for three or four days, it gets ti...

Re: T's GF12

26.7 mph out of a 14 foot boat with 833 lb total weight doesn't seem too bad to me. If I can manage 20 mph with a passenger in my FS14 I'll be happy. Going by what I experienced with mine and what months of looking for a 30 here's what I discovered. The 20hp 4 strokes are available used all over th...

Re: T's GF12

This will be one fun boat to run. Even if the fishing isn't so good, getting back to the ramp will make up for it. It is pretty fun to run, even with the deficiencys with the current rigging. Running in the intercoastal doesn't require any steering inputs, all you have to do is put a foot on a gunw...

Re: T's GF12

I'm guessing its the tunnel, sponsons and all the extra weight since a 30 hp is triple what is recommended for the boat. Very pretty boat though. Im hoping to get around 30mph out of my 20hp 4s on my gf16... I'm thinking you'll be doing good to get 25 out of your 16 with a 20 4 stroke. If you read ...
