Re: C19 in Richmond, VA

I’ll save some time not fairing the bottom side of the gunnels. Fairing in a good place for the time being. Moved on to console planning. Started with a big idea, but upon mocking it up in cardboard, it became apparent that it would be better suited for a 28’er. Will save it for the next one… Trimm...

Re: Pacific City Dory Plans

When I look at them I see driving down a beach or surf ramp into the water, rather than an involved process occasionally ending up with a trailer in sand up to the axles, or a wave depositing the boat on the car roof. :P I had a 3.5m dinghy. Putting wheels on it meant I could take it places solo wh...

Functional but Ugly = Fugly !?
Couldn’t agree more 😂😂. This one takes “form follows function” to a whole new level!

Wouldn’t look quite so fugly if the wheels folded into a nice looking housing - but they really do look out of place just poking into the sky on a boat!

Re: Pacific City Dory Plans

I take my kayak to Pacific City often to launch from the beach, but some power would really be nice to open up more options, hence why I'd like a dory for beach launches. I can understand why it's not commercially productive to produce plans for a boat This could be a totally unhelpful comment but ...

Re: Abaco 23

My apologies to all I did not do my research well enough! I had not known the Albury boats were from the Abaco Islands as the ones I dealt with came from Florida. Thanks for the post cape man and Browndog sorry if I stepped on any toes not intended just ignorance on my part. Thanks fo...

Re: Abaco 23

TomTom it was designed based on the boats from the Abaco's Islands 180 miles from Florida and part of the Bahamas, not the Albury Boats . He also explains more about the design and why it is a good rough water boat. Forgive me if I am wrong but I thought the original Albury boats were built in Man-...

Re: Abaco 23

Its all conjecture, but I would guess it is a different ride than the Albury. The forefoot looks quite a bit deeper and steeper on the Albury. Would be interesting to here from Jacques what the exact inspiration for the design is was. I was reading someone complementing that the Albury’s “stay on p...

Re: Abaco 23

Well I guess if the ride is as good as an Albury and someone wanted a bigger one than the allowable 10% scaling would get you just over 25 foot. Seems to have quite a high power requirement for Jacques designs - I wonder if she is deliberately heavy? Or it’s just a product of the hull shape/ deeper V?

Re: Abaco 23

I guess my first question still stands - can it be compared to an Albury Brothers 23?

Abaco 23

I was reading an article on the Albury brothers 23 - I am curious if the Abaco 23 is a variation on this theme? And how the ride might compare. It seems to be implied that the Albury 23 needs some weight - particularly low down - to create the ride it is so famous for. It also has a rounded bilge - ...
