Re: Jeffs FS14 LS
Awesome that you're getting to use her now - sure a great feeling to see them on the water at last eh? You said it CR! Initially there were some jitters that tempered the joy a little bit(Is the transom gonna fall off? Is the slightly used motor gonna start everytime? etc) but now it's like a comfo...

Re: Jeffs FS14 LS
There are some stress cracks that I need to address, I'll post about those at some point, but I've definitely learned that fairing compound needs to be used sparingly and thinly, it's not structural. I knew this in theory before, I now know it in practice. Could I maybe get a preview? It would be g...

Those look great, chips and all. Rounding may add a few more chips, though I'm a bit hopeless with a router, you may have better skill/luck.

Re: Jeffs FS14 LS
Cup holders, pole holders, battery disconnect switch and stern nav light off the to-do list. Keeping the deck clean is beyond me, have stopped worrying about it, boat gets used nearly daily. Still need to raise motor.

Screenshot_20210812-080523_Gallery.jpg Not a great picture but shows the geometry. The darker line is the bungee that was too weak and not enough length to build spring tension...... You can barely see the retract cable to the front but it is tyed around the eye bolt on the leading edge of the rudd...

Re: First sail of my life - HC14 converted trimaran - Aug 10 2021
Turn on your gps next time you're out and post a screenshot of the tracks, that will tell a good part of the story. Is there a good android app for that? as well as maybe showing speed? I use BoatingHD from navionics, no idea what maps may be available for the neck of your woods but worth a try. Ed...

Re: First sail of my life - HC14 converted trimaran - Aug 10 2021
If you were all getting back to the ramp, from whence the wind was coming, then you're all doing a pretty damn good job! Most stories you hear about first-time sailing involves a downwind launch and an upwind tow by a motorboat, so bravo! I may need a photo to fully understand the rudder mechanism b...

Narfi, huge congrats on the launch, what a great project! Design/build/launch/learn, just incredible. As far as tacking goes, you'll figure out how the boat likes to tack pretty quickly. On jibing, you should definitely practice some controlled jibes(sheet the main to the centerline as you jibe arou...
