Re: Shanty boat build - self design BBC materials

Just curious, have you ever traveled on a small houseboat/shanty? And where abouts are you located?

We rented a old 18ft houseboat earlier this year in central Fl and had a good time, but gave us some insight too.

Re: Shanty boat build - self design BBC materials

Should be fun to watch. I'll be planning a similar project in a few years. Good luck.

Re: Paint choices for C17

EMC was a disaster for me. Followed everything to a T and the 3rd coat peeled away from the second. Their customer service was worse as it took them a week to get back to me and they couldn't figure out the issue. It's also super thin so your primer needs to be perfect for it to look good. I ended u...

Re: FS17 - The Curse Of The Plytanic!

Tom, you need to calm down! I haven't spent a dime to sort out an issue that you are making way worse then it is. I expected some ventilation as I built my transom higher, and the motor is mounted a hole up as well. I haven't had my truck this week so I didn't pull it out to take a picture. No it do...

Re: FS17 - The Curse Of The Plytanic!

I didn't want to say anything, lol. That said I thought maybe it is cavitating, maybe I hit something and damaged the prop edge. No, it looks clean still so it's definitely ventilation. The bow is still running light, I'm going to install the TM and see what happens. I think it will make the ventila...

Re: FS17 - The Curse Of The Plytanic!

I'm working on putting some hours on her. the windy conditions have had me sitting at home, but today didn't look bad locally. I took her out to Lake Hunter again and ran around. It was calmer for the first 30 minutes or so. I was able to hit 37mph @ WOT and 5800rpm. Not to shabby. It slides a bit i...

Re: FS17 - The Curse Of The Plytanic!

I think the numbers are respectable, but can improve a bit. I might need to add some tabs later on. She handles big water well because it has a lot of buoyancy, but not quite as smooth as I expected. The light weight hull transmits a lot of force. I'll do a write up later on when I get a chance on m...

Re: FS17 - The Curse Of The Plytanic!

I took her out again today to try and finish breaking in the motor. Whatever marine forecast I looked up 2 days ago was DEAD WRONG! It looked ok in the river, just a bit windy. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51132895704_cc64e6c5d8_k.jpg 20210422_072732_resized , on Flickr I launched out of the ...

Re: FS17 - The Curse Of The Plytanic!

I appreciate it. I don't have a weight. To be honest I was afraid to weigh it knowing how many extras I added. I think a 3 blade would do ok as I'm looking for good midrange cruise and economy. I'm gonna hold off a bit until I get some more hours on her and a few more accessories. I might have to ad...

Re: FS17 - The Curse Of The Plytanic!

Thanks. Navionics did an android update several months ago, and it hasn't worked well since. This is what I saw on my trip. As you can see it's missing the entire river system now.
