And i woild definately glass the sides if i were to build another GF14.. it will keep the paint from cracking and add years to the life of your boat .... doing the la...

GF14, may'12(modified) deuce_454
Hey builders and boaters.. i have re-launched my gv14 i built a few years back.. the bottom was as specified built in 1/4 inch but seemed a bit flimpsy and the engine i had on it was a tad anemic.. also with noone in the boat to keep the nose down it was a little to much "nose up attitude"...

Re: GF14 upgrade with console
never tried a hydrofoil, just a tiller extension that did the job perfectly, so when the honda died and it was time to shop for another engine and i found the nissan/tohatsu 18 horse 4 stroke with remote and electric start.. so the forward steering conversion seemed logical... (the honda was only a ...

Re: GF14 upgrade with console

GF14 upgrade with console
I completed a GF 14 a few years back, the panels including the botttom was 1/4 inch as specified in the plans (3/8 inch ply for bottom was optional but i opted fro 1/4 for weight reasons...) the floppy bottom and nose up attitude under power have annoued me ever since so this spring i built a consol...
